FINLAND’S GENERAL EMERGENCY NUMBER: 112
In an emergency always call 112 first. The 112-app is very useful as it gives your exact location to the emergency operator. The address of the camp is Lomatie 12, Nurmes. After making the call inform the camp medical care or safety and security about the situation.
Arrival and exit
Arriving to and exiting from the camp happens through the main gate. You can arrive and leave either by group transport or personal car. If you arrive independently or bring an underaged camper by car, please read the provided instructions.
Arrival and exit by group transport
- The busses will arrive to the camp:
- 15.7. Wednesday 9.45-11.30
- 18.7. Saturday 9.45-11.30
- The busses will leave the camp
- 22.7. Wednesday from 13.00 onwards, after lunch
Your home unit will inform you about your group transport.
Arrival and exit by car
Traffic controllers will guide you to the parking lot on the arrival days (15.7. and 18.7.). On other days ask instructions from the camp’s main gate.
On every day other than the 18th and 22nd, you can leave with your own car as you wish. However, remember to check out from the main gate. On the last day (22nd) you can leave with your own car after 15.30, when all of the group transport has finished.
Bringing and picking up a camper
On 15.7. you can bring a camper to the main gate between 12.00-14.00. Remember to inform the camper’s unit about the arrival, as minors must be escorted from the camp gate.
On the last day campers must be picked up before 12.00 from the main gate. On other days, except the 18th, you can pick up a camper anytime from the main gate.
Minors need to be escorted to and from the gate
An arrival/exit from must also be filled at the gate.
Visitor’s day
The visitor’s day is Saturday 18.7. from 10.30 to 17.00. Visitors can explore the campgrounds with the campers. If you arrive by car, it must be parked on the visitor’s day parking area, Kajasteen tanssilava, Tiirikkalantie 19, Nurmes. A shuttle bus will run between the parking lot and the camp gate every 15 minutes at 10.30-12.30 and 13.30-16.45.
Arrival or bringing a camper
On the visitor’s day you can bring a camper to the main gate after 17.00. If you’re bringing a camper before that, please leave your car to the visitor parking lot and use the shuttle bus.
Camp ID
Every camper is given an ID-wristband that must be worn at all times. The color of the wristband is determined by your age group. All campers must also wear their unit’s neckerchief at all times, and they are also given a subcamp ID to be worn on the neckerchief.
Services at the camp
The camp office
The camp office is open every day from 8.00 to 18.00 in the Pielisareena. Services at the office include:
- General information
- The registration of campers arriving individually
- Distribution of pre-ordered hot drink-passes
- Distribution of no photography-badges
- Lost and found
Charging power banks
The camper’s power banks can be charged at the subcamp offices. However, the whole unit will bring their chargeable power banks collectively in one box. Individual devices cannot be charged, and we recommend using mobile phones as little as possible.
Lost and found
It’s important to mark and name all equipment, so they can be returned if lost. If you find any lost equipment, you can bring them to the subcamp offices, the cafeteria or activity areas. Please bring any valuable items straight to the camp office.
All identified items will be brought back to subcamp offices. Unmarked items can be collected from the camp office. All lost and found items are also photographed to the @pauhu26_löytötavarat Instagram account. Tip: we also recommend the campers guardians to follow the account and inform the campers if you recognise something as your own.
Food
Food is served four times a day, meals will vary between meat and vegetarian.
Dietary restrictions (“Ervi”):
All pre-informed dietary restrictions are catered to in a special Ervi-kitchen. Any vegetarian diets without allergies are included in the normal meals, but vegans will eat at the Ervi-kitchen. The Ervi-kitchen also includes the main menu’s dishes, so guardians escorting younger campers can also eat at the Ervi-kitchen.
Photography and no photography-badges
Photographers in the area will take photos for social media and promotional material.
If you have told in the sign-up that you wish to not be photographed, you will be given a badge to inform the people around you. The badges can be collected from the camp office. The badge must be attached to your neckerchief, the badge holder is responsible for the visibility of the badge.

At Pauhu we will act respectfully towards each other. Everyone can be seen and heard as themselves the way they are.

What is Pauhu?
Pauhu is the 5th regional camp organised by Järvi-Suomen Partiolaiset (The Guides and Scouts of Finnish Lakeland). The expected number of participants is around 1500.
The camp will be held on July 15th-22nd 2026, and the campsite is located in Nurmes, Eastern Finland (Lomatie 12, 75500 Nurmes).
Who can participate?
Participants must be at least 12 years old. Minors must be escorted by adult leaders.
The participation fee is 320€, covering all the activities during the camp. International guests will be invited to the camp by local Finnish groups.
Daily life at the camp
Your home during the camp will be your unit (”savu” in Finnish) which consists of about 50-80 scouts. All international guests will be integrated with a Finnish unit. You will sleep 7 nights in a tent with other scouts.
The camp kitchen can cater to most dietary restrictions if properly informed beforehand.
All rovers and adults are assigned a volunteer position during the camp, either as group leaders or in the camp organisation. Explorers (15-17 years old) will also spend half of their camp in a volunteer position.
General facts about Finland
The temperature in July in Finland is usually between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, with both sunshine and rain. The worst mosquito season will be over but ecological insect repellants are still in order.
Finland is part of the European Union and the currency is Euro.
